We have the resources, skills and experience to take your project from start to finish. We have managed projects from $500 to $5M and are just as efficient and comfortable dealing with a small one off assessment or a large scale multi discipline construction project.

Founding Director Andrew Winters established Environmental Advisors in 2015 and brings a wealth of experience combined with real responsiveness and the objective of forming long term relationships. It’s about a conversation to understand your issues and then bringing our experience to the table. Beyond that, we like to stay involved from start to finish, continually applying our knowledge to keep your project on course. Recognised as industry leaders, we’ve never stopped rolling up our sleeves to keep us technically current on-site and reliable in the board room.


Andrew Winters

Principal Environmental Scientist

Andrew is a Principal Scientist, Occupational Hygienist and Director at Environmental Advisors and has continually served the contaminated land and occupational hygiene industry since 1994. With more than 25 years’ experience specialising in contaminated site assessment, hazardous building materials and remediation, Andrew has conducted, directed and reviewed more than 500 investigations of contaminated land and structures throughout Australia covering all major industries.

Andrew is a suitably qualified person for contaminated land assessment under S.564 and S.565 of the Queensland Environmental Protection Act 1994 and an appropriately qualified person for asbestos auditing under the Queensland Work Health and Safety Act 2011 as well as being a Licensed Asbestos Assessor (Licence No. 2317050).

He is a member of the Australian Institute of Environmental Health (a prescribed organisation under schedule 8 of the Environmental Protection Regulation 2008) and a corporate member of the Australian Contaminated Land Consultants Association, the principal industry representative group in Queensland of which Andrew was part of the formative steering committee and was inaugural Secretary.

He has held relevant qualifications granted by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) for analysis of asbestos air monitoring samples (counter and signatory) and was the Technical Manager and Delegating Signatory for the first national accreditation granted by NATA for a Type A Inspection Body for Hazardous Materials Surveys. He has also completed a TAFE training module for friable asbestos removal, and for several years delivered an annual guest lecture at the Queensland University of Technology on contaminated land and planning.

Andrew’s experience covers many facets of contaminated land including those of human health and environmental risk assessment, multi-disciplinary soil assessment and remediation, waste management, site management and planning matters.

Career History

2015 – current Environmental Advisors Pty Ltd Director

2000 – 2015 GHD Pty Ltd (various offices NSW, WA, Qld) Manager / Principal Environmental Scientist. Project management and technical lead for multidisciplinary environmental assessment and rehabilitation projects, including demolition and brownfield redevelopment. Environmental liability assessment, remediation and compliance. Team Leader for land contamination and hazardous materials assessment and remediation (Qld 2001-2011, 2013-2015). Managed a team of 30 professionals providing land contamination assessment and auditing, mine closure, hazardous materials, environmental engineering, air and noise services (WA 2011-2012).

1997 – 2000 ENVIRON (United Kingdom) Senior Environmental Scientist. Land contamination and hazardous materials assessment and management.

1994 – 1997 New Environment Pty Ltd (Sydney) Occupational Hygienist. Asbestos and other hazardous materials surveys, air monitoring and clearance inspections. Indoor air quality assessments.
