We pulled out all the stops to assist this cooperative owned by local farmers when they were faced with a Department of Environment notice to conduct an environmental evaluation. Our focus was to satisfy the conditions of the notice whilst minimising disruption to the day to day operations of the Co-op as impacts from an accidental fuel release was understood and addressed.
Leveraging our experience of 100’s of service station investigations and with open communications between the Department and Co-op we tailored an investigation focussing on contamination characterisation and delineation, groundwater fate and transport modelling, risk assessment, surrounding services impact assessment and the data collection that supports these activities.
Whilst service station sites can be considered mundane, they do present some of the most complex and technically challenging environments for below ground assessment of potential contamination impacts to soil and groundwater.
