Comprehensive legislative knowledge and industry experience were combined to assist one of the Cross River Rail Project’s most significant precincts located adjacent the Brisbane Gabba Stadium. The demolition of the Go-Print, South Brisbane Dental Hospital and Landcentre Buildings was required to construct the Woolloongabba high-capacity Station, part of the new underground rail line. This 6.5 hectare precinct is also the staging site for the tunnel boring machines and eventual Woolloongabba Station constructed 27 metres below the surface.
The Qld Government’s Cross River Rail Development Authority engaged us to provide expert advice and review of demolition and contaminated land matters for the first demolition stage. Alignment of various consultant documents and contractor plans led to a more efficient demolition and redevelopment program, with subsequent audit for the precinct-wide detailed contamination assessment, remediation and validation prior to handover for construction works.
